CrossFit Athlete, Powerlifter, Stair Climber

I work to live a life I love. An d I love fitness, cats, fun socks, cinnamon gum, noisy music with lots of horns, inappropriate jokes, coconut oil, fireworks, and cookies & cream Quest bars.

I started CrossFit in May of 2014. It was basically the destination of the fitness journey I started in 2009 when I quit smoking. The journey started with running. Boring to me. Then I started group fitness classes like “(very light) weight lifting to (usually really bad) music” and cardio-kickboxing — where I ended up breaking my hip. I enjoyed the team-y atmosphere, but it wasn’t intense enough and I wasn’t interested in breaking more hips. I found a gym that offered small group training that included heavier weights, enjoyed that, got stronger. Then I had to move away from that gym, but it was to a town where a couple of incredibly legit Crossfitters opened up a second location. There were a few months of hesitation and intimidation…I mean, you see the stuff on TV and think, “pssh, no way am I doing that”…but then you go and see what it actually is. Total game and attitude changer.
